Fraxel
Dr. Lee offers Fraxel treatments in his office. Fraxel is a fractionated Erbium laser which is FDA approved to treat pigment spots, fine wrinkles around the eyes, acne and traumatic scars. It has also been used to treat pore size and skin texture. The results from Fraxel are gradual and usually require 3-5 treatments.
What is the recovery for Fraxel?
The recovery varies but there is generally redness that lasts one to two days. There is some discomfort and swelling that is resembles sunburn and usually resolves in one to two days. For more information on Fraxel, please visit www.fraxel.com.
Facial Implants
Implants can help improve the cheek or chin area by increasing the volume in these areas. The implants are made of silicone and are placed onto the bone at the cheek or the chin.
What are the risks?
Fraxel or laser treatment has a risk of prolonged swelling, redness and infection. The redness usually resolves over a few days but in rare cases may last longer. Infection is also rare but may need antibiotics or creams to treat. Swelling is also uncommon. If you have a history of cold sores, let Dr. Lee know and he will prescribe medication to be taken prior to treatment.
What is the recovery?
Aquaphor ointment is placed on the face 3x/day for the first few days. Sun avoidance is recommended for the next few weeks. For those individuals with a higher risk of redness, prescription creams are applied one to two weeks prior to treatment as well as after treatment.
Most people take one to two days off of work.
