Botox® Cosmetic Conveniently located to serve Greater Chicago Area and Cook County

BOTOX® is made up of purified neurotoxin from bacteria. It has been used for medical treatments for over fifty years although it has been approved for cosmetic use for fifteen years.

BOTOX® is injected near or into certain muscles to weaken them to prevent the formation of wrinkles. It takes 3-7 days to reach full effect and can last up to three months.

The risks of the procedure are very low but include bruising, swelling, tenderness, headache, and eyelid droop. If eyelid weakness occurs, the effect is usually short lived and there are eyedrops which can improve the weakness.

What is BOTOX® used for?

BOTOX® is used to decrease the wrinkles between the eyes, in the forehead, smile lines around the eyes, wrinkles in the top of the nose, and banding in the neck.

Who is not a candidate for BOTOX®?

There a few conditions where you are not a candidate for BOTOX®. If you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or nursing, you are not a candidate. If you have a neuromuscular disease or condition, you should avoid BOTOX®. Some skin inflammatory diseases over the area to be injected will also increase your risk of complications.
