Elegance in Expression: Botox®/Neurotoxin Cosmetic Treatments
BOTOX® is made up of purified neurotoxin from bacteria. It has been used for medical treatments for over fifty years although it has been approved for cosmetic use for fifteen years. Other products include Daxxify and Dysport. Dr. Lee uses most of the neurotropins depending on your regions.
BOTOX® is injected near or into certain muscles to weaken them to prevent the formation of wrinkles. It takes 3-7 days to reach full effect and can last up to three months.
The risks of the procedure are very low but include bruising, swelling, tenderness, headache, and eyelid droop. If eyelid weakness occurs, the effect is usually short lived and there are eyedrops which can improve the weakness.
